Business leaders place more importance on Workforce Planning than HR does, study reveals

Research hinting at “severe disconnect” between business and HR to be revealed in Human Capital Institute web presentation on December 6, 12PM ET

San Francisco, Calif. / November 25, 2008 — Research by the Human Capital Institute (HCI) and Aruspex demonstrates that while 74% of corporate executives believe that workforce planning is a corporate priority, only 57% of Corporate HR respondents do. The report concludes that combined with other findings, “this may well speak to a severe disconnect between corporate executives and the HR professionals who work with them, or… a lack of articulated strategy on the part of these companies.” These and other insights uncovered in the research will be presented in a free webinar next month.

Aruspex, a leading provider of strategic workforce planning solutions, will sponsor the online event 6 December 2008, at 12 p.m. (Eastern Time), to launch HCI’s global study “Identifying Business Value In Workforce Planning,” a wide reaching survey followed by detailed interviews and case studies on successful practitioners, which provides excellent insight into the ways in which organizations are finding value in workforce planning.

“While many organizations are demonstrating value in workforce planning, there are several key challenges still to be addressed”, said Stacy Chapman, a co-founder of Aruspex. “As finance and business executives increasingly recognize the value of workforce planning, many HR practitioners are getting that fabled seat at the table using strategic planning techniques. This research will help guide others to achieve those great results.”

The presenter is Dr. Katherine Jones, a member of the Human Capital Institute Research Board and a frequent contributor to many forums concerning workforce management and talent acquisition. Dr. Jones was a research director at Aberdeen Group in Boston for eight years, focusing on research and consulting services in talent acquisition and workforce management, ERP, and mid-market companies. She has written widely on many areas of talent management, technology and business practices.

As well as the results of the research, the session will share insights from the case studies and all attendees will receive a free copy of the research report. For complementary registration, go to http://www.humancapitalinstitute.org/hci/events_masters_webcasts.guid
